perhaps my favorite drink, not just protein drink

THE BEST, THE DRINK OF CHAMPIONS,, the taste is great, it helps you stay lean, and the price on amazon is ridiculously cheap, the RTD (ready to drink) muscle milks in my gym are 4 dollars each!, The taste of muscle milk is the best part, THERE ISN'T a BAD FLAVOR. +++++ I see results from drinking it,, theres more in this protein shake then any other, dont worry about the fat. This drink gives u the potential to produce more creatine in your body which will in return give you bigger pumps at the gym. I never get a stomach ache from this drink. I definitely recommend it to everybody. First, how it makes me feel. I work out a significant amount. A "heavy" day for me involves an hour of weight lifting and 2 hours of cardio and a light day for me is 30 minutes of weight lifting and 30 minutes of cardio. Prior to using muscle milk, I was attempting to consume pre and post workout nutrition via "regular" foods (i.e. not supplements). The problem I found was that pure carb foods, such as fruit, oatmeal, etc. would provide quick burst of energy, but wouldn't last. Foods higher in protein (greek yogurt, for example) seemed to just sit in my stomach like a lump, so I had to eat them well in advance of working out. Muscle Milk solves the timing problem for me, as it seems to be rapidly digested (I drink mine about 10 minutes before I get to the gym). More imporant to me is the constant energy I feel during a workout. On a typical morning, I will consume a one-scoop serving (150 calories) mixed with water, then lift weights for an hour. After that hour, I consume a 100% whey protein drink (also by Cytosport) and do 30 minutes of cardio. When I get home from the gym, I'll have another 1 scoop serving of muscle milk and hop on my mountain bike for 40-60 minutes, after which I'll have one more serving of 100% whey. In total I consume 600 calories and burn somewhere in the neighborhood of 1,200 - 1,500 during this workout routine. When eating "regular" foods, I would often hit the wall at one or several points during the workout, even getting lightheaded and feeling weak/shaky. With Muscle Milk, I feel an incredibly even stream of energy (no large bursts and subsequent dips in energy levels). I suspect it has to do with the balance of carbs vs fat/protein, with the carbs providing energy up front and the protein/fat providing energy towards the end of the workout. However it functions, it works REALLY well for me and has made my workout experience much more enjoyable, less frustrating, and (hopefully) more effective.

As for the taste, I've tried many protein supplements over the years and the flavors here are some of the best I've had. It blends extremely easily with water. I use a shake bottle with a blender ball in it, but I think you could probably mix this evenly with a spoon. The flavors themselves are quite good, for the most part. I've tried eight flavors now, and my review of each follows (listed in order of preference):I bought this because of all the hype. It is a very popular protein product that claims to help burn fat when mixed with exercise and tastes great.

I've been using it for about 2 weeks now, and I recently stopped taking the GNC brand protein to try this. Now, it does taste really good, but is difficult to mix without a blender. With the strawberry flavor at least, you get clumps, especially if you are lactose and use Soy Milk. Mixed with cold water, it's not as bad, but you won't get the same taste.

It does taste good, but you'll get bored with the flavor after a few days, so chocolate may be the way to go. I've only been building for about six months now, and I try to consume my weight in protein, so I would like to see a little more protein per scoop, but for those just starting out, or just can't stand the taste of most protein products, this may be for you.
