Included in the package (as pictured above) are an 11 foot cord , a vinyl drawstring pouch and a screw-on 1/8" to 1/4" adapter. It should be noted that there are two models- the one I have with the "s" at the end, meaning a straight cable and also the coiled cable model. Every other aspect of the headphones are the same between models.
The build quality of the headphones is quite nice. They take general abuse well. They only issue I have had at all is the stress-relief coil on the headphone cable by the 1/8" jack pulled out of the connector. This is probably easily fixable and I have not contacted AT to fix it, but I'm sure they would be quite helpful judging by past experience with customer support. The fold up and are solid once done so. The vinyl pouch doesn't do much more than keep them clean and protected from scratches, but it is still nice. I'm not worried that these headphones will break under normal usage.
As for comfort, these headphones are made to be worn for long periods of time. I've worn them for hours and fallen asleep in them no problem. They are large enough to completely cover your ears without squishing them. Others who have tried my pair on have agreed; often times you forget you're even wearing them.
The sound quality is the most impressive part. These things sound amazing! They have nice, crisp highs and clean mids. The bass is fantastic; I have never had a pair of headphones that has such strong bass. For the price (often little more than $100 street), I have not tried a pair of headphones that comes close to quality. The clarity of the headphones on even sources like iPods pumping mp3s is incredible. I use them for everything from their intended use with pro audio applications to casually listening to music.
I would not hesitate recommending these headphones to anyone looking for a nice pair in the $100-200 price range. They are comfortable, sound great, and are priced nicely. If you are looking for a pair of solid headphones, look no further- you've found them.

Great Headphone for DAW producing, Reason, Ableton For 2012
Gooooood lord. These sound so good they make me want to neglect everything else in my life just to listen to music. Remember when you first discovered how much music meant to you? These headphones will help you relive those precious moments. Hyperbole aside, I really do highly recommend these to any and everyone who wants a beautiful audio experience. I'm admittedly not a techie geek and mostly use these to listen to my iPod, but if they sound so good I'm threatening to smack strangers based on iPod usage, you know they're gonna be awesome in combination with any other advanced medium. I've yet to use them with my turntable, but that day will come soon enough.
I began researching headphones in order to block out noise while studying in the small house I share with three other people, and after being turned off by the humming of noise reduction headphones, I decided on a quality pair of headphones instead. I did research many other brands, and was impressed with the sound of a few others I was able to check out in person, but the reviews coupled with the price (it's gone up a bit since I bought mine a few months ago) made me cross my fingers and hope for the best with these ones. I could not be happier. From rock to punk to reggae to blues to classical to hip-hop to folk, these headphones allow me to hear new aspects of the music I've been listening to for years on end, and have given me a new appreciation for balanced sound. They sound so good I'm actually writing my first product review after years of silent Amazon purchases, because I think people should know how amazing this product is. I want to stockpile a supply of these in a fallout shelter.
Oh, and I have a large head, and they are tight, but do stretch.
PS, what they say about the burn-in period is true. While these sound really great out of the box, they do get better with age. After listening to a friends 'Beats by Dr. Dre' made by monster, I decided that I needed a quality set of headphones. Although the Beats sound was great, the bass seemed a little over the top. It is to be expected considering the style of music that they were most likely designed around. The $300 price tag was a definite no-go for this guy. I have been DJing amateurly for about eight years and spin mostly Drum and Bass and some Hip-Hop from time to time. I personally listen to a wide variety of music, from Sinatra to Death metal, Country to glitch and continue to explore all of music. I am learning to produce with Reason 5 and that was also one of the main factors that pushed me to invest in a nice set of cans. Here is my review set up in a pros/cons format.

These Headphone will change the way you hear it all
I have waited a good long time before attempting to review these behemoths. I love them, yet I hate them. Somewhat like an unplanned child the summer before you go to college. First, you need to decide if you are actually a musician, and will actually be using them for nothing but mixing. If your like me, you mix quite a bit, but also listen to a lot of music in your off time. You want a versatile headphone that will give you great response when in the studio, and be smooth an enjoyable when just listening to Scofield or Taylor Swift, pick your poison. These headphones are not it.
These monsters offer no hope for enjoying music. They isolate sound, strip the instruments down to their most basic form, and reveal every nitty gritty detail about how it was recorded. These headphones are like listening through the ears of Rick Rubin. In the studio, they are a god send. They allow you to pick apart every sound your making, alter it slightly, and tweak for an end result that is simply magnanimous. In the real world of simple music enjoyment, they will let you hear Dr. Dre whispering slight cues to Eminem, Stevie Nicks cough in between "Gypsy", and how much Bob Dylan truly enjoys recording on old wooden chairs that creak and groan. They will sound like crap on your MP3 player. I don't care how nice it is, or what type of external FIOS drive you have powering it, it will still sound like crap, and you will be begging for more volume. All of that music you torrent will all of a sudden become useless, as it's poor compression ratio will leave you hearing Norah Jones peak like crazy, rattling the phones to the point where you whip them off in disgust. These are headphones built for the purpose of deconstruction. Any other use of them will leave you feeling sad and very much alone.
They are durable, built well, and feel good sitting on top of your ear. They look like they mean business, and if your mixing on a bus or in public, people will not disturb you while wearing them. But heed this warning: there are plenty of people out there who do not mix, but prefer our headphones because it gives them the best experience. We love you guys and girls, because you quest after the little things we really do want you to hear. The slight nuances we put in for people like you. But these are not your headphones commercial buyer, these come straight from the devil himself to allow us mixers to hear how our environment has truly impacted our recordings. They allow us to densely layer, and refocus sound to minute amounts in any direction and depth. If that is what you are looking to do, purchase them immediately and start your journey. Awesome studio headphones Audio-Technica ATH-M50 sale 2012
While I was deployed the last third of 2010 I spent much of my time with only the basic electronics I took with me to the desert. A nice set of headphones was not on this list. While time passed I met a few dudes who also wanted new headphones, so we all went different directions with this itch. We bought a set of Bose, Beats, and I got the M50 with a FiiO E5 amp.
By default, Bose disapointed for the price and lost. What we found was that the M50 headphones were absolutely the most faithful to the acuracy of the sound, but lacked the deep bass the Beats could produce. You could still hear the bass, but not so much FEEL the bass. Deep down inside I wanted that in these, and I envied the Beats but I undestood why it lacked this. On the Beats once the bass get heavy everything else becomes a sea of distorted garbage flowing into your ears. Soon after we noticed this we also heard a soft hiss on the Bose and Beats whenever they were powered on with soft or no music. The M50 only suffered this when I installed the amp, and without it, they were perfectly quiet when nothing was playing. Why would I plug in an amp then if it added a hiss? Well, this little moFiiO could make the bass on these pop. At the higher volumes I usually played music with bass, the hiss was undetectable. As other reviews have stated the bass is clean and balanced definitely punchy. Just don't expect to have a tiny ghetto blaster(see Beats) in each ear. If bass is what you want the Beats will slap a smile across your face. If clarity you seek these make this your new baby.

You are stupid if you dont buy these Headphone
Mids are ever so slightly recessed from the Lows and Highs. Since I largely listen to electronic music where vocals are secondary, this isn't a problem. However if you're a Grado type person who prefers the voices to be front, center, and in your face, you won't get that here. However, these headphones still will make it sound like Celine Dion is giving you a private concert regardless of the recess.
-Highs are tricky to identify quality. To me, I hear highs as representative of clarity. For hi-hats and the like, I expect them to sound crisp, sharp, but also subtle and accurate. These headphones deliver.
-I've also used these headphones extensively for gaming, and their soundstage and clarity make a significant difference. I've been able to score kills that have made my victim think I was cheating, just because I could so accurately hear footsteps and other minute noises.
-These headphones can get to ear-splitting volume levels. No amp required for ipods or laptops.

Earcups / Isolation:
-The earcups for these headphones do generate a very good seal around my average sized ears. I've worn these so much that the earcups actually have indentations for the top of my ear, side of head, and earlobe. These indentations make me love these headphones even more since they're "custom fit".
-In terms of noise reduction, these cut out about 10dB worth of noise at mid-high frequencies (technical data, and I agree from experience). You can have a conversation with someone while wearing these, but once you start playing music through them you will find yourself shouting and unable to understand a conversation.
-After a year and a half, the earcups are fairly dried out and only starting to get the most minor of cracks. The earcups cost about $20 to replace, so I'm not too worried with the durability since I'll probably get another year out of them.
-The earcups can get a bit warm on a hot-humid summer day, but it's never to the point of being uncomfortable.
