Expected More, OK toy for the price on LeapPad Explorer

I was super excited to buy the LeapPad for my daughter's birthday in November. This toy was already sold out in my area so we had to drive an hour away to get one. It seems like a great idea, almost like an iPad for kids. I think I assumed this was going to be an amazing breakthrough toy because of it's popularity. The problem is that it's much too expensive for what you get. My daughter is 4 and originally played with this toy quite a bit (the first week.) It comes with a few cute apps which she is not so interested in after almost 3 weeks. All of the games, ebooks and apps available to add online are extremely expensive. This is leaving us rather bummed after such an expensive purchase. It is set up so you spend endless amounts of money adding to the LeapPad in order to keep your kids interested, but it feels like a waste of money.
Also there is no storage space on the LeapPad. You could easily make this toy more useful and a smarter purchase by adding the option for an SD card. I would love to put movies and music on this device.
There is a camera but my little girl rarely uses it.
I was really disappointed also that the screen is not kid-proof in any way (you would think a toy for a 4 year old would have an anti-scratch surface) but ours immediately scratched from our daughter using the stylus. I now see that there are screen protectors sold seperately, but for $100 it needs to come with a warning to add one before letting your kids play with it.
Honestly I am considering returning this for a VTech Innotab, which is $20 cheaper and allows you to add your own pictures/music/movies on an SD card. I probably should have researched a little more before making this purchase.
My guess is that after the Christmas frenzy is over, a lot of people are going to be returning this. Then after spending more than half an hour doing all these steps, the device did not even have the game that I picked so I had to 'Reset' the device and redo half the steps. And now not only does it still not have the game I picked but it doesn't even have the three games that came with it, none of which include any of the games I was interested in.

The quality of the graphics is horrendous. Compared to even an android smart phone it is embarrassingly bad. The whole toy feels like a cheap piece of plastic. Compared with all the educational games I can get on a smartphone these days, many of which cost at most a few bucks, whereas the games here generally cost between $10 and $20, I am considering returning this toy immediately.
