The best body shaver yet from Philips Norelco

The trimmer is amazing. I owned the first one that came out BG2020 and compared to this model it is use-less. This model is great, metalic cover with rubber grips for great holding. It is heavier then the earlier models, has buzzers on both ends which can have only one on at a time (great incase ur absent minded like me at times). The pivot head is one of the Key additions that makes the model superior, reduces any possibilty of cuttes or close calls. The other being the groomer itself has a battery power indicator, if you have had any bodygroomer with out one you must know how annoying it is to not have enough juice to get your job done. The light indicates charging, low battery power and full battery, great to know since most of these devices can malfunction if left charging to long. A must by if interested into personal grooming men and women alike. I've gotten all my friends into norelco because of this model series.

This is the third Bodygroom that I've owned. First, I had the 2020 model, followed by the 2030 model, and now this 2040 model. Each generation is an improvement over the predecessor. This is the first one that is double-ended. Analogous to a chainsaw cutting down a forest, the trimmer end of the unit is for areas with long hair. Analogous to a lawnmower, the shaver end of the unit is for shaving hair completely. The grip and length of the shaver are engineered to help you have a good reach, as well as effective arcing motions while you shave. However, if you need to shave the middle of your back, you may need someone to help you, as this device is not quite long enough to reach. One downside to this shaver is waiting all day for it to charge if you want to use it right away. Also, make sure you have replacement heads, as one will be needed after a few full-body shaves.

This groomer is great in that it gives you a sense of safety. Other groomers have cut my badly in areas I would have rather not have been cut, but the BG2040 is not one of those products. Is it perfect? I would say no, it has a few minor flaws that kept me from giving it a full 5 stars. The shaving foil will not get as close as you want it to, but this is in keeping with all electric shavers. It must still be given the credit that it deserves, however, as it is still the best electric shaver I have used to date even though it does not get every single hair. I have found that a good solution for this problem is to gently pinch the areas where the hair is not being removed and go over them with the shaver head. It may take a bit longer this way but you are insured a good result.

Ergonomically it is not so great either, it is large and can be quite cumbersome in certain areas. It casts a large shadow so it should be used in a well lit bathroom, preferably where the light is coming in from different sides of the room or directly above.

What redeems this product for me is the lack of irritation produced. I have extremely sensitive skin and honestly I thought I would wake up with razor bumps all over my nether-regions from this shaver. This was not so, in fact the skin down there is as smooth as can be and I am completely comfortable into the next day.
