Awesome studio headphones Audio-Technica ATH-M50 sale 2012

While I was deployed the last third of 2010 I spent much of my time with only the basic electronics I took with me to the desert. A nice set of headphones was not on this list. While time passed I met a few dudes who also wanted new headphones, so we all went different directions with this itch. We bought a set of Bose, Beats, and I got the M50 with a FiiO E5 amp.

By default, Bose disapointed for the price and lost. What we found was that the M50 headphones were absolutely the most faithful to the acuracy of the sound, but lacked the deep bass the Beats could produce. You could still hear the bass, but not so much FEEL the bass. Deep down inside I wanted that in these, and I envied the Beats but I undestood why it lacked this. On the Beats once the bass get heavy everything else becomes a sea of distorted garbage flowing into your ears. Soon after we noticed this we also heard a soft hiss on the Bose and Beats whenever they were powered on with soft or no music. The M50 only suffered this when I installed the amp, and without it, they were perfectly quiet when nothing was playing. Why would I plug in an amp then if it added a hiss? Well, this little moFiiO could make the bass on these pop. At the higher volumes I usually played music with bass, the hiss was undetectable. As other reviews have stated the bass is clean and balanced definitely punchy. Just don't expect to have a tiny ghetto blaster(see Beats) in each ear. If bass is what you want the Beats will slap a smile across your face. If clarity you seek these make this your new baby.

POSTROCK & ORCHESTRAL-R U Fn Me? *****
When the music is so calm any bass instruments really punch in contrast. You can hear the fingers slide across strings like you were there.
