Great option for an IPAD loving child Deals

Last week, I received a LeapPad Explorer at no cost for purposes of review on my website Mom's Favorite Stuff. My son, who just turned five, has been obsessed with playing with my iPad, but he doesn't always understand the games, and I'm constantly nervous that he'll drop it or spill something on it. So, I thought the LeapPad Explorer would be a great option for him.

Out of the box, it's easy to use. The LeapPad Explorer is compatible with LeapFrog Explorer apps and games, so we had plenty to use with it. My son immediately understood how the included stylus (there's also a spare) and the touch screen worked, so it was very easy for him to start playing right away.

I'll be honest - I thought maybe the LeapPad Explorer would seem a bit too simple for him, after playing with the iPad. But he really loves the LeapPad, and has enjoyed playing all of his games on it. He also likes the fact that it's his, and I let him take it with him in the car and to Grandma's house (something I would never allow with my iPad). My daughter, who's almost 7, also loves it, and now there's a constant battle between the two of them.

The Pros
The product seems very durable. My son has already dropped it on the concrete outside, and the only thing to happen is that the stylus fell out. No cracks, and no damage to the touch screen.

My daughter LOVES the video camera and the regular camera, and she's constantly taking photos and videos. She loved setting up individual profiles for both herself and her brother, and she enjoyed taking photos for the profiles.

It's very simple for kids to use (especially those used to other tech products), and there are so many games and apps available.

The Cons
Battery Longevity - I'll have to invest in some good rechargeable batteries, because the LeapPad Explorer uses A LOT of battery power. If you are traveling with this, you'll want to bring a supply of spares.
