Impressive Sound, Excellent Price

After looking around for different possible audio setups for my TV that would fit my budget and provide me with better sound that wouldn't disturb the neighbors too much, I came across the soundbar section of Amazon. There is a wide range of brands and prices, and I think I hit the right one. I live in an apartment building, so I wanted something that would replace the painful tinny sound of my TV speakers without having too complicated a setup or breaking the bank. Overall, this soundbar has more than exceeded my expectations. When it came to installation, all I needed was an outlet and an audio optical cable- I opted for AmazonBasics Toslink Digital Audio Optical Cable- and I was done. It couldn't have taken more than five minutes from the time I opened the package to completely set.
I've had the soundbar for about three months now, and have tried it with a number of applications- cable tv, video gaming, blu ray and Netflix streaming- and it has performed well with all of them. It has a straightforward set of controls on the soundbar as well as a small included remote that includes volume, subwoofer volume, input selector, mute, and a few other modes that I haven't tried out yet.
Straight up, this soundbar puts out a significant amount of sound for its size, and I rarely have it over half power before I get complaints from my next door neighbors. The integrated subwoofer does very well during action sequences and gunfights where the TV speakers just don't cut it. I'm no audio professional, but I think the soundbar matches up very well in sound quality and clarity with a lot of more complicated systems out there- it's only shortcoming is that it's not surround sound- something I don't consider absolutely essential and would not expect at this price range. Even at higher volumes, it retains the same level of quality without sounding overworked or on the verge of failure, something that has almost happened with any other audio setup I've owned.
For someone that's looking for a significant upgrade over stock TV speakers, and even someone looking to replace a more basic surround sound system, I would highly recommend the Panasonic. I was able to get if for only $130, and although it looks like Amazon is listing it for around $200 now, I still consider that a good value for what you are getting from it.
I have always heard good things about Panasonic in the past, and this purchase will certainly affect future home theater purchases in favor of Panasonic. This was the second part of our small system and it interfaced seamlessly with our Toshiba 3D TV using only the HDMI cable. There was a lot of reference made to Panasonic's own TVs but the ARC seems to be an industry standard and it works beautifully with no optical or other cabling required.

This bar provides much better sound than the built in speakers in today's super thin TVs as long as you realize that it is not a substitute for and large, bulky theater system. For our use it was the perfect small foot print solution without having to hang speakers all over the room. While there are cheaper units, this one had the quality that we were looking for.

Some people using sound bars complain that their bars block the front of the TV blanking out sensors for remote controls, etc. We got around that by raising the base of the TV on 2 small pieces of 2 x 4. The 2 x 4s are not visible behind the bar, but they can be stained to match your cabinet if desired.
