Great Vacuum for the price

My previous vacuum cleaner was a dyson animal and I really loved that vacuum cleaner, however it is now 8 years old and has had to survive 2 teenagers who used it to suck up anything they could rather than bend over to pick up, which included items too large to fit as well as food. Anyway, my dyson was getting tired, smelly and finally the motor went on it, so it was time to buy a new vacuum.

I initially looked at dysons again, but I really didn't like the idea of spending 400+ dollars for one, so I did a bit of research and found that this vacuum cleaner had great ratings and was supposed to be as good as a dyson, if not better.

After using my new Shark I have to say I am very pleased with it and feel like I got a similar quaility vacuum as I would have if I'd bought another dyson.

Some additional comments:

1. The floor vacuum is brush is very small, for me it didn't really bother me once I started using it, but it is what it is.
2. It's much lighter than the dyson was.
3. It's not *quite* as well engineered as the dyson, the dirt canister for instance is a bit more work to disengage and remove. The dyson really did shine in this area, removing the canister was a simple 1 button push that you could do standing up, this requires you to bend down and remove 2 latches, but overall I think the differences are minimal and for being 1/3 the price, easily accepted. I'm not complaining here, but rather trying to illustrate where a dyson is better, but honestly I can't justify another $300 just for that minor convenience.
4. I think I would have liked a bit more cord than what they provided, but it's not like it's too short, so again, commenting on that, but really not a big deal for me.
5. It is pretty quiet, quieter than my dyson was.

Overall after initial use I would say it is really comparable to a dyson. I think the only unknown will be if it can hold up over time as well as the dyson did, but if I can get 5 years out of it, I think it will have paid for itself in my opinion, let's face it things like this at this price are more a commodity than something you would expect to get 10+ years out of...
