Easy setup, good value and excellent quality

I bought Ooma Telo and received it two days ago. It took me only 10 - 15 minutes to complete activation and setup. My new phone number is up and running around 15 minutes. As myself an engineer design hi-tech products, it's usability design is superb, both from look and feel and ease of usage perspective.

I have it connected to router instead of put it between Modem and router as suggested by startup guide. It works fine. I also tried to put it between my laptop and router, having laptop connect to the Telo device, it also worked fine without problem. I have not experience the problem of upgrade taking hours or never complete as other reviews indicated.

My plan was to cancel my current phone from cable provider which charge me around $33 per month, and just standardize my home phone system using Ooma device. I have not tried to connect my fax machine to it, but will try it next step.

Couple of minor issues:
- The startup guide did not provide a bit more detail on what is expected light combination while upgrade is ongoing. So initially when I saw different lights flashing, I am not sure whether there is a connection problem, or whether the upgrade is in progress. And from what I can see, the device actually rebooted couple of times along the way, but no much of clear indication on what it is doing either from the device itself or from the startup guide. It bit more clarification would be nice. The 10 minutes wait was a bit frustrated since I didn't know whether upgrade is in progress or not.

- The plug of the power cable is a bit short and rough, easily get disconnected. It happened twice when I was rearrange the devices and my laptop cables.

Overall, it's a great product, I am very happy for the purchase. And my wife is very happy, who is usually not very happy with my choice of products. We've gotten to the point where some people expect world class support, life changing products for free. People ranting about how terrible Ooma is are the same people who forego lunch to eat the free samples at Costco. If free samples at Costco is what you call lunch, then you'll hate Ooma. If you're going to stand in line for 15 minutes and haggle over a $.35 coupon that didn't scan, you'll hate Ooma. We get it...take your rant to someone who cares.

I've had my Ooma for over a year now. It's excellent in every regard; Setup, porting my land line #, use, hardware, support. I call Europe, Japan, and China with no issues. I'm talking Zero, people.
