Black & Decker Pivoting Hand Vac For Sale 2012

I got this vacuum a couple weeks ago... and I love it. I had the older version on my wish list and when I finally decided to get it, they had a newer model out that seemed to cost less... I went for it. It definitely looks very cool and it's extremely powerful! I can't say I use it for hours on end, but it stays charged for as long as I need a hand vac for (half hour?). It works extremely well (I have two cats).

I didn't realize, until it arrived, tho, that this version does not have a cradle. I really had dreams about hanging it in it's dock on the wall and thought about returning it, but it worked so well and folded up so compactly I decided it was not that big of a deal. Also, as someone else mentioned, it does have a little problem that if you don't empty it right away and fold it up, the stuff you just vacuumed up will fall out. This sounds pretty terrible, but my husband and I thought that it was probably best to just empty it every time anyways. Well designed. It can fold into a neat rectangular block for convenient storage,
and it does not have one of those bulky charging docks that you have to mount on the wall with molly-screws, etc.

First impression is that it has a very powerful suction, and its foldout feature allows easy access into hard-to-get corners and under furniture.

But let's be realistic: We have purchased this brand name vacuums before, and they all performed well at first. But because they all have NiCd batteries, they all come with their familiar "memory" characteristic. After several charges, batteries begin to have shorter and shorter cycles, util they give out completely. We found it costs more to replace a battery than just ditching the product and buying a new one.
Why can't the manufacturer come up with a Lithium-Ion battery that does not have a
memory? I know they cost more, but in the long run they are definitely worth the cost. If you're looking to suck something up that is quick and easy, sure it is ok. If you are trying to vacuum out your vehicle (which is the main reason I bought this), expect multiple trips to the charger. The suction power does not last any more than 2 minutes fully charged. Quite disappointed with this product after I read a lot of great reviews. Take this for what it's worth, but definitely not worth the money to me.
