Done Everything Asked of It DEWALT Bare-Tool DC385B

Arrived quickly, well packed and with everything it should have had. This same model has been available with both the standard and nano battery base - mine arrived with the nano base, no problem but I would have preferred the larger base. Both style batteries function in either base.
Out of the box the chuck was very snug but with a little effort and some wiggling I managed to get even the thickest Milwaukee demo blades to lock in.
Over all its a hefty tool with a good solid feel - ripped through a 4x8 sheet of 3/4 plywood in a flash and was comfortable enough to notch a door frame for new hinges.This tool cuts metal,wood,drywall like butter. This saw is not the cheap version of the one I had. This bad boy is beef-up and heavier.Once in my hands I knew this tool would preform, and I was right. I highly recommend this saw to all.
This was my first internet purchase at Hardware Sales. They had just what I wanted. I didn't need a whole kit or tool plus battery. All I needed was the tool at a fair price fast. Thanks Hardware Sales I got this saw about 2 days ago and I will be returning it to home depot tomorrow morning. First let me say that DeWalt is awesome when it comes to drills and some other tools, but no company makes the best of everything - this is the case with this saw.

First, it shakes violently and is extremely unbalanced. Whoever said that this tool is "balanced" has not tried a high-end reciprocating saw. Even the Ridgid R3002 is much more balanced than this tool. I would not use this tool for prolonged periods of time under any circumstance. The intense vibration will give you nightmares at night.

Second, the 4 position blade lock mechanism is the weakest one I have ever seen and legally... they should not be allowed to call it a "blade lock". Locked-in blades are very flimsy ESPECIALLY the thin metal blades. The only mechanism that keeps the blade stable is the coat of paint on it - which will eventually wear of with use.

This saw is good if you plan to cut a cake or slice a doughnut for breakfast otherwise it's not as good as all these DeWalt paid reviewers say it is.

The only reason why people buy this saw is because DeWalt holds them by their balls with they interchangeable batteries. So like any dumb consumer, most are forced to buy this crap since "they already have the batteries"
