Short term usage but great so far Electric Snow Thrower

I bought the unit on the strength of the reviews here and the 4 year warranty. I've used it for a month now, about 5 times and am pleased with it. It is light in weight, which is good for maneuverability but you do need to keep it angled correctly to get the lip against with the pavement and get a clean pickup.
It does great on fresh snow and that's the time to take care of the driveway. In fact, the more snow there is, the farther it throws it. It is too light to do anything about ice on the driveway unless you've broken it up.

It does a good job in paved sidewalks and driveways, but I can see where the plastic lip might catch on a crack and chip if you forced it. I considered fastening a thin metal strip along the bottom, but decided against it and I haven't had a problem.

One fellow complained of the snow getting into the gear that rotates the chute and freezing there. I haven't had that problem either but you could take a piece of rubber sheet, say from a drainboard mat, cut a hole to fit around the chute and allow it to move as you turn the chute and it would keep the show out of that little pocket.

The one problem I did have was the nut that holds handle on the chute-turning rod was not a lock-nut and it came off and got lost. I put two nuts on to make them stay. You could also use loktite.

I thought the electric cord might be a hassle, and it is a little, but it beats trying to start a gas engine at 0 degrees. Start near where you've got it plugged in and work away from that, blowing snow in one direction. At this time the device seems quality enough as its first test was a pretty big one. If I encounter any issues with it that lower my rating I will be sure to come back and alter it but for now I could not be happier with my purchase (I know I've only used it once but even for the price I paid it made the one use very worthwhile vs 2+ hours of shoveling heavy wet snow at 7pm at night.

The device has a metal auger/blade set which adds to the quality and made this all possible, many I've seen in stores seemed to have plastic ones which no doubt would have broken soon after with this last snowfall. But don't hesitate if you are thinking this isn't enough for you, just be sure to get a good outdoor extension cord at the proper gauge and amps so it carries the signal and the device works at full throttle!
