My fifth jigsaw and the only one that makes sense so far...see that little silver lever on the back? that's a fool-proof lock for the angle of the guide. In four out of five jigs I've owned, THIS ONE is done right. So many times, the angle of the guide goes askew during a cut because of maladapted engineering of how they're locked. Not this baby...the real deal :) I have arthiritis in my hands and if I had one 'drawback' it would be the literal spread of ones hand as you're using it, but that's every jigsaw I've used. They really should make tools for us babyboomers that have uncle arthur living with us, or gender specific maybe? I'm a 'girl' but I truly hate the idea of girlie tools that are whimpy and cheaply made. Just a good tweaking and this design would fit my hand perfectly. As it is, I'll suffer through, as it's worth it! Great tool. Just try to take it from me :) You have to jamb the blade into the holder or it will just pop out while your cutting. It seems that the blade is engaged, as you pull on the blade with your fingers, it's locked in tight, but then you start a cut the blade immediately pulls out. The blade clamp is deceptive, it seems secure but you have to push it up farther past some noticeable resistance for it to fully engage.
The Blade also does not seem to be perfectly perpendicular to the base shoe either, there is a noticeable angel to the blade, so you have to manually adjust the bevel feature of the shoe/base plate beyond the 90 degree detent to get it aligned correctly. However the bevel lock is easy to adjust and seems to hold tight.
It does have a feature that blows dust out of the way of the cut line, which is good, but a white LED would be a welcome addition.Upon receiving my new jigsaw in the mail first impressions is everything.. First this saw was brand new which is what we expect but dont always get. Then holding the saw in your hands is the next test.. does it feel solid does it grip good on your hands, does it feel solid.. Yes to all the tests here im feeling good, now i actually am enticed to go get the battery and hear the motor run. So I get one of my 6 batteries, (now you know i have a dewalt collection) and plug it in and fire the saw off with no blade in it.. the motor screams and you feel the torque and power of the tool.. the motor actually goes a little faster than i expected call it turbo or nitrous effect. So now everything is good, I am happy with my purchase so far, its time to cut some wood. I take a piece of 3/4" plywood out and make some sample cuts.. WOW thats all i got to say the tool cut through like a knife cutting through butter.. Now i know part is due to using a new dewalt saw blade (make sure you get the T-Shank blades or they will fall out).
