A few months ago I purchased the Dynamite vac without the attachments

A few months ago I purchased the Dynamite vac without the attachments ( at Walmart for $37.94)
I really love it and commented to my hsuband I thought I would get one for the upstairs so I would not have to get out my big Platnium Force Dirt Devil and haul it upstairs each time I wanted to vacuum.
His reply "can't you just take it upstairs when you want to use it"?
He wasn't getting my idea about convience!! So Last week I made a trip North and was gone 5 days. When I get back the husband says I tried that little vac out upstairs and I think you should get one for the ( no his injuries are not life threatening!!) upstairs!! I was very good and did not say I told yu so !! So this time I ordered the one that comes with the hose and attachments ( from Amazon for $49.99) so I could use it in the kitchen to go over the cupboards, ceiling fan etc and the one without the attachments went upstairs.
The one with attachments has the same great vacuuming power BUT there is no way I can reach the cupboards because the flexible hose ( and it is not very flexible) is a mere couple of feet long and the hard plastic hose attachment is maybe 12 inches long, it comes with a small brush attachment and the long narrow ended nozzle. I am really disappointed that I cannot use this as I had intended. Even lifting the vacuum up and stretching as far as I can to reach the top of the cupboards I still cannot reach the top in fact I can barely reach the middle of them !! About the only thing it is good for is vacuuming at counter height and below. I do not feel it is worth the extra cost of the attachments. We are going to see if we can find an additional hose that will fit so I can reach the areas I need to .
I own several Dirt Devil vacuums and this is the only one I have ever given a bad review. I have been a big fan of Dirt Devil products for a longtime and am sad to say this one just does not meet my expectations for a Dirt Devil product.I've had it for about a year now, and there haven't been any mechanical issues, and it definitely picks up quite a bit. I just have a 2 bedroom apartment and I use it about once a week.

But now, almost every time I vacuum I have to remove clogs of hair/dust from two different areas of pipe. One of the areas is a curved section of pipe coming up from underneath the vacuum, and you must unscrew the fastener which keeps the pipe curved, and then use a stick to poke the clog straight through. It's very inconvenient and it's the only way to remove a clog from that area. The other section where it clogs is the longer, bendy section of pipe (where you can attach the wand). But that's a little easier to unclog since all you have to do is get a long stick and force it through.

It's a good little vacuum for the money, and powerful. Still though, it's a pain to have to unclog so often. Maybe I will try vacuuming a little bit slower to see if that helps the clogging.
