This printer is a great option if you want to try wireless printing

This is my third Canon printer and I have been happy with all of them. I wanted to upgrade my current printer to take advantage of this model's wireless and AirPrint capability. Set-up was easy, although the printer needed a firmware update right out of the box to take advantage of AirPrint. This can be downloaded at the canon website.

Please note that you do need a printer cable (not included) for all firmware updates, so save your old cable or order a cheap one from Amazon when you order this printer. The firmware set-up was kind of a pain, as the instructions had been poorly translated into English; once installed, AirPrint worked beautifully. I had no problems printing from my iPad2, nor were there any problems printing from my computer.

I tried printing photographs using the 4x6" size of both HP Premium Plus Photo Paper and Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy II. The Canon photo paper produced far superior prints. The background color of the photo printed on the HP paper was extremely muddled. I'd stick with Canon brand for photo printing on this printer.

This printer is a great option if you want to try wireless printing and need AirPrint capability.I bought this today because I heard it supported AirPrint. I tried the one in the local Staples but it couldn't find the printer via my iPad. I bought one and brought it home and it didn't see it either. Once I upgraded the firmware and restarted nothing looked different on the screen or in the menus but it appeared just fine on my iPad.

I loaded letter sized plane paper in the bottom drawer and 4x6 photo paper in the top slot on the back. When I printed a photo from my iPad it printed full-bleed on the 4x6 photo paper. When I printed a webpage it pulled the paper from the cassette and printed it on plain paper. There was nothing to adjust and it worked better than I thought and it printed quick. The printer was never plugged into a computer either, except for updating the firmware.

Only cons I have is that there is no way, to my knowledge, a way to configure media, print settings or any details like that when using AirPrint. I could see why would wouldn't want it on the iOS device or even lots of options on the menu of the printer but please give us some geeky tools for the web admin section of the printer so we can get some better prints.

The photos I tried printed out a bit warm and maybe too much red in them. It wasn't bad with people in the photos just a little too warm for my taste.
