he single green LED blinks when I change the volume

I am still waiting for my Bose optical digital cable which I was promised by today the latest. I am watching the sun set. Thankfully I was able to continue my review without having all the necessary parts from Bose.

Here's what I like about these speakers:

Quality faithful reproduction of audio with the optical digital cable. The sound quality was not quite as good with the analog RCA cable, as one might expect. If you have a television which only has RCA jacks, don't bother plunking down coin on these speakers because they won't help improve the sound much. You would be better off with another, cheaper solution. But, if you have an optical output on your television, these speakers will do the trick.

There is no lack of bass. In fact, a bit too much base - booming, thunderous bass. I needed to tweak my television's equalizer to adjust the low end frequencies to their bare minimum. I've uploaded a photo here so you can see what I think is the best settings according to my ears. My television sits in the corner and reflects everything directly back to the viewer, which might account for this. If you have your system up against a flat wall your sound will vary.

It's great that it raises the television up a few inches. For me this was an unexpected benefit as my TV stand is a bit too low to the ground. Now it's at a perfect viewing height and it cost me nothing extra.

Automatic turn-off. If I neglect to power them off the green LED will extinguish in a few minutes. I wish it had an automatic turn-on as well.

Here's some very minor annoyances:

No sound level indicator. The single green LED blinks when I change the volume but I don't have any visual indication as to where the level is currently at. On the other hand, the system does a great job at keeping all the channels, sources, music, and voice at a constant volume. With the cheap analog amplifier which I am replacing, I was always running to the remote to turn down music, turn up voices, turn up the sound on the DVD, lower the sound for the cablebox... all those annoyances are gone, so... ok, not much of an annoyance to loose a sound level indicator.
