The WD player's 1080p and 720p files look great on this TV

Bought this TV last weekend to replace a 4 year Old Vizio 32 LCD 720p.
Setup was a snap. Have Direct tv connected via HDMI, PS3 via HDMI. and a rooftop Antenna connected to the Coax/ OTA.
Running TV thru a Yamaha 5.1 surround System.
I am using the TV's Digital Optical out for sound when watching OTA TV broadcast which look and sound great thru the Yamaha Receiver.
Using a digital coaxial cable for Audio for my Direct tv, and the audio from PS3 run HDMI.
The TV does need some tweaking/ Fine Tuning. I thought the picture was too dark until I changed it to Dynamic. I actually used the settings one of the previous reviewers posted.
Compared to my old Vizio, wow, big difference. Watching the 1080i broadcast of the US Open was amazing. Playing FIFa Soccer was incredible. Big difference from the 720p.
Overall, happy with this purchase. But only 2 HDMI ports??? and they are located on the side of the TV which makes for cable clutter.
I did view some photos and Videos using the Usb port with usb thumbdrive. very seamless.
Look no further if your looking for a solid tv for your Bedroom. The picture on this set is amazing for the price. It does need a bit of tweaking from factory settings, but nothing too major. (Contrast and brightness turned down a bit etc.) HD content looks stunning and colors are spot on.

The problem with this tv is very common with edge-lit led tvs recently, it's called clouding or flash lighting. You can only notice it at night with a near black screen on. (Such as switching the tv to an input with no device connected.) I noticed on my set that there were large bright spots or "clouds" all over my screen! Also in the corners there are bright blooming artifacts that are so annoying at night time!!! (flash lighting) Turning the back light and brightness down at night helps a bit but black.

In conclusion this TV has as good of screen performance as the more expensive series without costing nearly as much. Only negative is the clouding which I have seen on every single samsung and lg set I have ever owned. As long as you can live with the screen uniformity problems I say go buy this set! But if you are one of the more OCD tv nuts out there like me, you may want to stick with your plasma for a few more years until the build quality of these lcd/led sets improves a bit more! All in all great tv with minor quirks.I give it a 3.5 star due to lack of inputs, mainly. ANY new, modern TV should have at least 3 HDMI inputs (cable / sat, PS3 / Xbox360 / Bluray)...HELLO!!!

My 6 year old Westinghouse 27 inch LCD died. Off to Paul's TV (not recommended due to restock fee of 15%), bought this Samsung UN40EH5000 40-Inch 1080p 60Hz LED HDTV. YAY!!

I need more HDMI and other inputs too. I'm using Uverse connected to 1 HDMI input (they claim to broadcast HD in 1080p). I connected my WD Media player into the other HDMI input.
Since my old xbox360 is component, and my Wii is composite, I'm stuck with only one of those to be connected at one time. My bluray player cannot be connected either, since I've used both HDMI inputs. And..lastly, my Laser disk (yes indeed, still have it) cannot be connected for it's component or composite needs. And..that VHS / DVD combo..composite and or Super Video!!! *sigh* I had all these connections on my cheesy Westinghouse LCD.

The smaller the TV, the better it looks...mostly. Comparing this 40 inch to my old 27 inch may not be a fair comparison, even though its...720p vs 1080p / 6 year old technology vs 2012 / LCD vs LED, 1000 contrast ratio vs 3.5 million contrast ratio!

The WD player's 1080p and 720p files look great on this TV (still, the "flatness" seems evident), but the "motion blurriness" seen with the Uverse cable seems non existent when playing the media files. Even the bluray movie playing as a demo at the store (Megamind) looked a bit flat, but non blurred when fast motion was playing. I thought it was just the environment / lack of video tweaking but low and behold, it seems not for the flatness aspect.
