if you're looking for a basic laptop for homework and general home use

I decided to try the Acer brand because I wanted a budget friendly laptop and we have a 6 year old eMachines computer that just won't die. It's been reformatted at least twice and still runs pretty darn well!

If you're like me, you're not up on all the latest tech-lingo and just want a laptop to surf the internet, play a few videos, maybe some music and run microsoft office. This will fit the bill just fine. It starts up rather quickly compared to our Dell (even when it was new). The screen is big and crisp. I have two (somewhat minor, but annoying) problems with this machine. 1. if you have anything in the USB and pick it up, you'll likely shut it off by accident. You don't really have to hold down the power button for any length of time and if you hold the computer near the screen on the left side, you'll shut it down. 2. The multi function touch pad is great when it works, but I have more issues of sliding around screens and zoomign things I didn't want zoomed necessarily.

Pros:
Numeric pad on side (HATED having to use the numbers above the letters)
Big enough screen that you don't have to toggle around
Clear picture
Zoom function on touch pad
Does what it needs to
Doesn't come loaded with TOO much extra junk to delete
Other than the CD/DVD drive, it's really quiet and doesn't get too warm
Profile is pretty slim and crisp, doesn't feel clunky.

Cons:
Easy to shut down by accident
Multi function touch pad issues
CD drive is a bit noisy, but who really cares?

So basically, if you're looking for a basic laptop for homework and general home use, this will fit the bill quite well. Spend a few extra buck and double your memory with this particular Acer model.I am an early college/high school student and this computer is a great deal. It comes with 4GBs of RAM, which is more than enough for typing up reports, watching Netflix, and light gaming.

Pros:
* Lightweight
* Solid battery life (3.5 hours for me)
* Comfortable keyboard (also comes with a full numberpad on the right side)
* Bright screen, not too glossy... No annoying reflections
* Very good sound quality. Great for watching movies
* Great processor - Photoshop CS6 Extended runs smoothly and without any lagging :D
* Boots up/shuts down quickly

Cons:
* Trackpad is solid, but takes some getting used too. It's a little slippery
* Annoying beep whenever the cord is plugged in or taken out--not too loud, but still annoying
* Outer finish of laptop lid attracts fingerprints (but no scratches)
