I returned the RM705. I also listened to Polk Audio TL1600

These speakers sound absolutely amazing I am a little surprised for the price I used to have the Definitive Technology ProCinema 600 System and paid way more for it like in the 800 dollar range I have found it very hard to find good clear speakers that depict crisp instrumentation and vocal a lot of speakers sound kind of muffled and don't really articulate between sound these speakers do just that and the sub is great it does not over power the bass to fill a void of bad sounding speakers the sub does what subs are meant to do and that's fill the low end and give you a fuller sound I have used so many different speaker sets and usually the sub is just obnoxious not clear and rattles your floor its kind of like being next to a car where the bass is rattling the trunk and ground and over powering the music. I would highly recommend these Polk's they made a fan out of me I would use Polk for everything in the future when something is good why change?

I was very disappointed by these speakers and I don't understand all the "wows" in the reviews.
Sure, these things can render explosions, and 5.1 surround is amazing if you have never heard it before.
But seriously: voices are muffled, like coming from behind a heavy curtain. I'm not an audiophile, but this is obvious. Most movies have dialogs and if voices are not clear... it tends to ruin your experience.
It's just NOT TRUE that the sound is crystal clear. The mid to low range is energetic but the high mid range is weak and is not clear.

As a comparison I have a Logitech X-540 5.1 system on my computer which cost me a third of the RM705. The highs are amazingly clear and silky though the sound is weaker in the mid low range. The overall experience is superior to the RM705. Of course it is a far less powerful system made for computers, you can't use it on a receiver. But power is overrated. People using a system more than 500W in a small or medium are either deaf or crazy.

For reference my receiver is the Onkyo Sr308. I have also tested the speakers on my stereo, with equivalent results: the lack of clarity affects also some music.

I returned the RM705. I also listened to Polk Audio TL1600 at a local shop: they are better, but eventually I opted for the Energy Take Classic which are better still, but also more expensive, and I was still not completely satisfied. I guess small speakers come with compromises.
