there is not a better deal out there for great sounding

For the $250 price tag, there is not a better deal out there for great sounding, attractive, low-profile speakers. These are absolutely perfect for smallish rooms and modest A/V systems. I paired my set with an Onkyo HT-RC270 receiver which has plenty of power to push these speakers to their limits and still maintain clear, crisp sound. The reason the sound is getting better for me is, since I like them so much, I've added another pair of satellites for a 7.1 setup. As soon as I find a deal on another subwoofer, I'll be able to take full advantage of my receiver's 7.2 capabilities for truly awesome sound for both music and movies.

It's difficult to pair these with speaker stands. The FS RM7 stand is made for the RM speaker series but are difficult to find. I tried 2 different brands and wound up going with the Atlantic Satellite 77305018 and had to use double-sided tape because the mounting options just didn't work out. I also found that the spring clips used to connect the speaker wire to be a cheapish solution and wouldn't have expected it on a set with a suggested retail of $600.

Overall, these speakers are a great value and sound great as long as you're not trying to fill a huge room. They're a perfect match for my 52" Sony Bravia TV and Onkyo receiver and deliver an impressive home theater experience at a great price. The very first thing I did after unpacking these speakers was break off a red connector. By far the cheapest construction I have ever seen when it comes to hooking up wires. Be EXTREMELY careful! Luckily a heavy wire fits tightly into the hole and the red connector was not that important for me. I have already written Polk about this issue though and I hope they send me another speaker (5 year warranty).

Having said all that these babys ROCK! Excellent sound from a very small unit. I am running a Yamaha receiver and I could not be happier. Crisp and clean sound and the included sub is plenty. It even replaced my very huge and old-yet thunderous JBL unit. The Polk sub is smaller and packs a similar punch so why not?

Get these, just use kid gloves when you hook them up.I'm no audiophile, but I can tell the difference between good speakers and bad ones. As an entry level set of speakers these are hard to beat, especially at the $250 price point. I'm very happy with my purchase. After a few months the only complaint I ahve is that the center channel is a little muffled, so dialog can sometimes be a little hard to understand without turning the system way up and pissing off the neighbors :)
