The RM series is Polk's answer to the 5.1 speaker systems

The RM series is Polk's answer to the 5.1 speaker systems you see at Best Buy or Fry's. The difference for me was the price and the quality of the speakers. The price on amazon and the Polk name should make this an easy decision for those looking for a high quality, good looking, and well priced 5.1 speaker system. These aren't top of the line and those who are extreme audiophiles with thousands to blow on speaker systems probably could find some little nuance with the performance on these speakers, I find the sound to be clear and with the powered sub, you get the full experience without the crazy price tag. They perform well a low volume as well. I currently have these hooked up to a mid-line Sony receiver and I used the Sony calibration mic to fine tune the sound, movies to CSI Miami sound great. I am using them in my family room in a townhouse. They are solid, no cheap plastic comes with these like those you will find at the big box stores, they are surprisingly heavy. The package comes with wall mounts, which I see at a $40 value. Be sure to pick up some good speaker wire, 16 gang is what I used. Polk' RM series have been a great addition to my family room and with full surround sound capabilities watching movies and TV is more enjoyable.If you are worried if a 250 buck speaker do the job for your 18 by 15 room (a bit larger should be fine too), then stop thinking and buy this one. I feel like I have saved almost 350 bucks as I was about to buy a 600 buck 5.1 system from best buy after falling for some salesmanship. This is a great product for your movie and gaming needs. It fills the room completely and subwoofer is just great, I had to turn it down a bit as it was too much for the size of room that I have. I still need to figure out few settings on my receiver to get the best music quality as the subwoofer won't work when I am playing at multichannel level (will be great if someone can let me know). When I am playing at digital movie level, subwoofer works too, but most of the sound comes from middle speaker. For music, I would love to get equal sound from all 5 speakers with sound from subwoofer too.

Anyways, I have used 16 gauge wires and the wires for rear surrond speakers runs 25 feet each. I bought the 100 feet wire for only 13 bucks and stayed away from buying expensive monster cables. I hope my review helps in making your decision. I was feeling guilty of not buying BOSE type speakers until these arrived. I couldn't expect any better experience with movies sitting at home. I hope it satisfies my musical ears too :)... enjoy...

Update:1 I have understood the most settings for my need. The music coming out of it is just great. I read someone saying it plays low to mid range sounds pretty well, but not higher range range... Might be true, so if you can listen to other seakers which do both better, then it is money well spent. But I think your receiver setting can solve that problem too. Anyways, the clarity that I get out of these speakers is so awesome that I have become addicted too. I never feel like switching it off until I go to sleep, nothing other than the clarity holds me to it. Enjoy guys...
