one word has on your efforts to lose weight and keep it off.
Seems like a strange title for an article doesn't it?
I agree it is strange, until I tell you the damaging effect that one word has on your efforts to lose weight and keep it off.
I want you to repeat these words "I hope this works" 10 times slowly into yourself and at the same time close your eyes and picture yourself at the start of your latest effort to lose weight, go ahead do it now... don't read on until you have.
I guarantee that no part of that little exercise felt either good or inspiring did it?
There is a simple and very good reason why that felt uninspiring, the subconscious mind is goal oriented, so when you use the word HOPE you have put all responsibility for your actions outside yourself, the subconscious mind is that powerful that it goes to the memory and just like a computer it looks for a file where you used the word HOPE before.
What it finds is that when you have used this word before... you have failed.
So as you can see you are setting yourself up for failure before you even start, and all because you are telling yourself... I hope this works.
Don't get me wrong if something is outside of your control for instance the time of the next bus, you hoping it turns up on time does no harm at all, because it is something you have no control over.
When your intention is to lose weight and keep it off, then every part of that intention is inside your control, if you don't think that statement is true then ask yourself if it isn't you that is in control... then who is?
Mental attitude is everything in your efforts to reach your goal.
So now we have ascertained the word hope doesn't work for us what do we do now?
I want you to repeat these words 10 times "I will make this work" but this time I want you to close your eyes and picture yourself changing your lifestyle in an ongoing and continuous basis that would allow you to lose weight, not dieting or spending the rest of your life at the gym, but just imagining yourself making small changes to your eating habits that you know will have a positive effect.
Do this little positive exercise three or four times a day and at the same time making changes to your lifestyle that you know will help you to reach your goal.
The subconscious mind will pick up on this new pattern and will help you achieve your goal, this is the way your subconscious works, it's not magic it's just doing what it was designed to do, so why not use it to the best of its ability.
