Side-by-Side Refrigerator Water Filter, 1-Pack Review

I agree with others that the water quality is not normal with these filters. I have ordered filters in the past straight from the manufacturer and never had a problem, water tasted great. Decided to save a few dollars and go this route and I'm sorry I did. Since we installed a week ago, I've noticed the dispenser is struggling and sometimes there are bursts of air when no water comes out. The taste of the water is horrible and metal tasting. I've switched glasses and water bottles hoping it was just the dishwasher, but I continue to choke down the water. I think I'll stick with tap water until we need to order again and only use the filter if we're going to mix with Crystal Light or something. We won't buy these again! I have bought the same filters from Lowe's and have also ordered them from Whirlpool. Knowing the part number is key. This time I ordered the dual pack for savings and convenience. The significant savings in the cost of the product makes it worthwhile to order them from Amazon. The order was delivered as indicated when the order was placed. The first filter has already been installed, by me on my knees in front of the refrigerator. Its future replacement will sit on a pantry shelf until needed. One day the engineers who design Whirlpool refrigerators may stop putting filters in the bottom grille in deference to grandmothers everywhere. These filters are easy to install; however, since getting on the floor to change them is such a nuisance, I'm appreciative of the ease of acquiring them. Thank you Amazon for making one stage of filter replacement so simple.

This filter is compatible with my KitchenAid side-by-side stainless. Easy to install, just press the button to pop out your old filter, press the new one in. You DO have to flush a significant amount of water out first, otherwise your first couple of gallons will taste disgusting. I used a small 1.5 qt sauce pan and filled it up about 12 times, this worked perfectly. Love the fact that I not only get filtered water, but filtered ice as well.

People are saying these filters are expensive, but I don't get it. Even at $32 each (less if you buy in bulk), you get 200 gallons out of each filter. This is the equivalent of spending roughly $0.51 for a 24-pack of 0.5L bottles of water. Most stores in my area sell bottled water for about 10 times that amount. This fridge and filter have saved me a considerable sum on bottled water without attaching an unsightly and cumbersome filter to my faucet.
