This is a very heavy piece of equipment, so on a price per pound basis, it's a deal. Functionally, we'll have to see, since I don't have a dead battery to try it on. I have used it as an air pump. It works, but is heavy to tote around and pumping takes about a minute per pound of air, when boosting my SUV tires from 30 to 35 pounds. After about ten minutes of pumping, it smells hot and stops working until it cools off. So, with time for cooling between tires, it takes about 45 minutes to add 5 pounds of air to 4 tires. The air pressure gauge was surprisingly accurate, unfortunately, as you can see from the product picture, you can't read it without either tipping the pump on it's back or getting yourself down on the floor. The rest of the indicators and controls as well as the light are great for battery jumping purposes, but that air pressure gauge needs to be moved up to where the "Energizer" logo is.The first thing I noticed once I got the product is that it has two metal connectors poping out instead of the common power receptacle. I can't find any cable in the package to charge it and my regular power cables don't fit. I called Amazon about the missing cable. Amazon called the vendor and it turned out the the product doesn't include the necessary cable! I had to go to Home Depot to purchase an "extension cord". For a device that costs ~$140, a cable should be included!

A couple of nice things about this unit are worth noting. Of particular note is what it doesn't have. It does not have a power cord, which at first seemed strange. However, we all have quite a few extension cords laying around and this has allowed me to put one of them to good use. This saved me from having to deal with yet another power product's cheap little power cord which, once removed from it's little storage cubby in the unit, never again would fit back in that little space. The other thing is the large comfortable handle. It's excellent and wide enough that I'm able to hang the unit under a shelf, saving some precious floor and counter space. I follow exactly what the manual stated how to hook up the wire for jump start and it keeps giving error beeping sound. I called the car manufacturer to confirm the grounding bar and they confirm my description so I am sure that I hook up according to the manual.

I call the manufacturer locating in Texas so they asked me to send it to them, which would cost me $40 (1/3 of the price). The only local dealer in Southern California is near Ventura County.
