Built-In Air Compressor and Power Inverter Energizer 84020 Review

The short review is in the title - DONT BUY THIS ONE

The long review and explanation for this rating :
-) the starter cables are so short ~1.5ft(30...50cm), you have to place this unit on top of the motor to reach the battery ==> NOT SAFE. With longer cables you can place it on the street, like other units
-) the cables are too thin / the battery is too weak to start average US CARS. This battery might work to give you a boost or start a very compact car. But US cars with their 6cyl engines require MUCH MORE AMPS to start ==> I tried and it FAILED !!
-) the air-compressor may come in handy -- but the manual says it will take 5...10min to inflate a car tire. I can change a tire in the same time.
-) the noise from that compressor is "earth-shattering" ==> which would be okay if I could fill a tire in a minute or two (but not 10min)

I BOUGHT THIS for its larger than usual battery -- so I can drive a telescope at night
+) the capacity of the battery likely is the size as stated in the ad
-) When you use the AC converter, a fan starts whining -- heavier loads cause really annoying noise from that fan ==> play a DVD or have a laptop & radio ==> can't listen to it without that noisy fan PS : I own other AC converters with 200W output and they are FANLESS !! I was expecting the same here !!

-) at 150USD I was expecting a lot more and am really disappointed at the OTHER REVIEWS FAILING to do a thorough check

-) I would return it, if I could -- maybe I find a willing buyer locally on Craigslist.
+) so far, the battery & charger still seem to work, so I can use it as a REALLY EXPENSIVE 12V battery. AC converter works but it is noisy The Energizer 84020 All-in-One 12V 18Ah Battery Jumpstarter with Air Compressor and Power Inverter is just what I have been looking for. I used it once for tire inflation and it did a great job. I store the unit in my garage (unattached and unheated) yet it holds a charge for a long time as I have periodically checked and its readiness is always good. I am anxious to use it more as winter progresses or as need arises. Not the most important, but being an "Energizer" product it has great brand and just looks GREAT style-wise. I would recommend it to anyone!
