You may want to think about which hand you use to turn the water

We replaced a Moen that just was not cutting it at 4 years old, so the search for a replacement was on. After reading many reviews and shopping the home improvement stores, we settled on Delta. Then narrowed that down to the 9178 based on look and feel. Fortunately this model was at the store so we could eyeball it. Then went to Amazon and found it was $40 cheaper, plus no tax and free shipping, a no brainer. Installation was very easy, I threaded the pull down hose down the goose neck before assembling anything. The included wrench made short work of tightening the faucet to the granite counter top (those connecting directly to a stainless sink will need to review other reviewers comments on those caveats). The only issue I had was the isolation valves used 1/2" pipe thread connections, while the Delta is 3/8" compression. A straight 1/2 pipe to 3/8 comp adapter would not seal on the 1/2" side and I didn't want to rely on gooping it up with sealant, so ended up using a short 1/2" to 3/8" comp hose (pre-made), then a 3/8" coupling fitting, it's not pretty but worked. total time to install, about an hour. Some thoughts: I put the faucet handle on the right, but when I turn on the water, I instinctively reach with my left hand to do it. You may want to think about which hand you use to turn the water on before you begin. I didn't think about it. I may rotate the faucet 180, have to see if I get used to using my right hand. Check out your isolation valve fitting before you begin, and if you have 1/2" you'll probably need something with a rubber grommet insert to really seal. This Faucet is HIGH, it rises a full 15" above the counter top, fortunately even though it dominates the view, it looks great. I ended up putting a piece of thin plywood under the sink between the pull out flex hose and all the fittings under the sink (shutoff valves in particular). The flex hose would catch on things when pulling in and out. With the plywood there, it's a smooth ride and makes the under cabinet area look much more finished. The magnet in the goose neck works great at keeping the sprayer head flush when retracted.Was a little apprehensive to buy without seeing, but reviews were favorable, so I went ahead. I had purchased a moen faucet for a bathroom redo a short while ago. There is nothing wrong with it, but it seems very light and almost like a chintzy chrome over plastic compared with this faucet. The Delta brushed stainless steel is attractive and goes well with the stainless steel sink we dropped under a quartz countertop. We went with this because we only wanted one hole in the counter. It makes for a clean look and easy clean-up. This faucet seems well made and it actually has some weight to it. The magnet secures the faucet head all the way back to its original position very easily. The hose is adequate length for our sink. Regular stream/and spray rinse are controlled very easily by a button. If I were left handed I would have the control on the left side. The plumber who installed the unit was favorably impressed. Very happy with this purchase.
