The first time I tried using this stapler I attempted to replace the air hose adapter

Received this one the next day after the first one arrived looking slightly used. The Amazon representative sent it next day at no additional charge. Had the 9600 for a week driving T50 (503) quarter inch staples through fabric into several 3/4 plywood frames measuring 4 feet by 8 feet. I have gone through over 400 staples, with no jams whatsoever, it works like a champ. About every two sticks of staples, I put 2 to 3 drops of machine oil in the air nipple. You see, this is the third air tool I own and this is the best way to use an air tool. I have a Grizzly framing nailer and after every 50 nails I add 3 drops of oil and no problems. I've had the framing nailer for four years and used it to build my workshop and frame the basement. Occasional oiling will keep it working smooth. I paid three times as much for my Porter-Cable brad nailer and the 9600 does just as good. If you use your compressor on a daily basis, drain the tank. Due to the constant cycling, the compressor will build up water in the tank(the compressor squeezes the moisture out of the air). It will get into your tool and corrode it from the inside.Bought this stapler (actually asked for it for Christmas) to tackle a big job recarpeting the siderails and bunks on my boat hoist with Monel rust proof 1/2" T-50 staples (which by the way - the Stanley product is way less $ than the Arrow, and work just as well). Finished that job with less than complete satisfaction, and then moved on to another outdoor project -- found it very frustrating that it would not drive staples consistently every time -- more like every other time. Also found that I had to bang the head of it on the side to get it to drive. After about 1000 or so staples, I finally discovered that if you only load the magazine 1/2 full or less, it WILL work on every pull of the trigger. Seems like there is a problem with the feed having too much spring tension on the staples -- anyway for less than 30 bucks it still sure beats squeezing the handle of a manual gun that many times. Especially at my age with a bit of arthritis starting to weaken my grip. The first time I tried using this stapler I attempted to replace the air hose adapter with an articulating one. It was very hard to remove as they had cross-threaded it when they installed the original. The aluminum in the stapler housing was buggered up but I was able to seal it with thread tape. Then I tried to use it to staple chicken wire to compost bins I was building. The stapler would: - Refuse to fire at times. - The air piston would stick in a mid position after firing, causing it to just blow air out of the exhaust port. I would have to disconnect the hose to get the piston it to reset and sometimes I had to bang the stapler to release the piston. I must have done this a hundred times while doing this project. - The unit fired multiple times when I pulled the trigger, 2-3-4 staples per pull. I consider this unsafe. - When using the stapler, the staple loading handle would release all of a sudden and all of the staple strips would fall straight down on the ground. The strips would then break apart into individual staples making the strip unusable. This happened continually and I went through 4 times as many staples as I should have. Look at the photos on the auction page to see how the staples will just fall out of the bottom when it opens. - When trying to staple the chicken fire it was very hard to center the stapler over the wire. The pointed tip that you place against the work should have a small slot to center it over wire. - I used 4 times as many staples as I should have; due to multiple firings and the loading handle opening and dropping the staples straight out of the bottom. I used 3 boxes of staples on a job that should have taken 1 box. - In closing, this stapler is junk! I would not recommend it to anyone. Don't waste your money.
