Shaving is a wonderful experience now. I use a Straight and DE in combination

I have a thick, gruff, sand paper type beard. I can't go two days without looking like a mountain man. My beard has coarse hair running in multiple directions and if I don't shave in the shower with the hottest water available I look like I got in a slap fight with Freddie Kruger. About a year ago I upgraded to boar hair brush & a single blade old school razor. I have been trying various soaps to see what works for me, for my beard. The razor and the blades do a much better job than the disposables I had been buying. But canned creme, even the "higher end" ones still didn't give me the kind of shave I wanted. I tried the Sandalwood Shaving Cream based on the reviews. This stuff is just like being back in the barbershop when I was 5, the smell taking me back to the day! It's amazing!! I put about two fingers worth into my shaving mug, add a little hot water and hit it with the boar brush. Amazing shave! The resulting creme is very thick, very smooth and I experienced zero nicks or cuts in my first two shaves. A feat not accomplished since I was 14. :-) This stuff is like liquid ball bearings that smells good too. Highly recommended! I have not stopped my search yet, and I have two more variants on the way, so I will be posting more as I do more testing on my own face. But suffice to say if this stuff can shave my beard without incident, I can safely recommend it to just about everyone else out there who isn't a Card Carrying member of Wookie International.Well I've been using this for awhile now and I think it is the best stuff I've ever used on my face. I'm hoping all TOBS lather up the same way because this is absolutely excellent and much, much better than Art of Shaving..and more affordable. I lather up in a cup and keep it submerged in hot water so the lather stays warm. My Feather blades just glide over my skin now. I think it prolongs blade life for another shave or two. So I would rate this now at 5 stars. I have ordered the Eaton College again. Hope that's what I get, because TOBS is, by far, the best. I no longer use a straight now, just my Merker DE and Feather blades. Extremely smooth! Original Review: I received this Sandalwood by mistake when I ordered Eaton College (still have yet to try Eaton College). I like it and my wife loves the scent. I'm good with the scent, very nice. I had been using Art of Shaving Lavender, whose scent I like better. The TOBS Sandalwood is just as good performance wise as the Art of Shaving but is much less expensive. So I will try other TOBS scents and lay off the Art of Shaving which I'm starting to think is a bit overpriced. My favorite shave creme however is still Proasso. You can't beat it for shave performance, scent and economy. It will out last a tub of TOBS and that is saying alot. I think the menthol in it numbs the skin a bit in case you overdo it, which I find nice. But lots of folks don't like the menthol and that's fine. I find it most refreshing in the summer months. I also use a tiny dab of Prorasso after the shave for comfort and healing. But that is my own preference. When I'm completely done, I brush a little Clubman talc on to take the shine off and leave my face smooth and dry. Shaving is a wonderful experience now. Little things like TOBS Sandalwood Shaving Cream ( as opposed to that horrible grocery store stuff) good prep, good blade, good post shave make shaving something I can't wait to get to after that nice hot shower in the morning. I have a much more positive and relaxed attitude in the morning at work nowadays. It pays to pamper yourself a little, especially at such economical prices. And believe me, one tub will last a year for me.
