Yamaha-YHT-595BL-Complete-5-1-Channel-Theater

I was looking for a simple upgrade to my TV sound, with a wireless sub-woofer, and without breaking the bank. This sound bar fit the bill. So far, it has functioned flawlessly, and is a HUGE improvement over the crappy sound capabilities of our TV, a Phillips flat screen. The pros would be relatively simple hook up, good sound, and an attractive design. Cons would be cost (it was a little expensive when I bought it), and the fact that, although it has several types of inputs, I was unable to use the optical/digital input that I wanted to use. Our TV does not have a TOSLink input, so I wound up using the RCA inputs at first, and eventually got a HDMI cable for it. I have not had any of the problems with erratic operation using the HDMI cable that other reviewers have reported, but I can see how they might, with the vast array of TV's and other audio/visual devices out there. I have also had NO problems with interference on the wireless link to the sub-woofer as some people have reported. I'm guessing that for those having problems with the wireless functions, too many other wireless devices might be involved ... Another con would be the almost non-existent owner's manual, which contains VERY basic information about the product. It was adequate to get it installed, but if you have any technical questions, it falls way short. Another con would be the fact that it doesn't turn itself on when we turn the TV on, which, if I had a good manual or a good universal remote, might be a simple fix. For now, we just have to turn the TV on first, then turn on the sound bar. I was able to get our cable remote programmed to control the sound bar so we don't have to have yet another remote lying around. I'm sure the tech types have all these things figured out, but I don't have a lot of time on my hands to play with audio equipment ... I just wanted something that I could plug in and use, and this sound bar accomplished that for me.
