I don't think you can go wrong with this receiver unless you fail to read and understand the owner's manual. This receiver has very clean sound as well as a good FM tuner section. Considering its rather low cost, I was quite surprised at just how good it is. But since it is high powered, it must have adequate ventilation or it will overheat, causing the thermal breaker which is inside the power transformer to fail. And if that happens then it is most likely beyond economical repair since it sold for such a low price. The parts and labor cost to repair it will most likely exceed the cost to just replace it. And I believe that it is because of this that you can usually find quite a few of these being sold "as is" and for "parts or repair" in online auctions. PEOPLE DON'T READ THEIR OWNER'S MANUALS, and then they install them without adequate airflow in and around the unit and they overheat. The manufacturer punched all those holes in the metal case for a good reason! So let it breath.
My only actual complaints are that;
1. The display is rather small and somewhat dim for my liking.
2. The bass and treble functions don't allow enough boost or cut.
And as this is not my only stereo, I can live with those complaints. This receiver was purchased to be part of my easy listening and relaxing at night stereo system, and therefore the remote control was the ultimate selling point. It has a very nice remote that even offers speaker switching capabilities.
So all in all I am quite pleased with the purchase of this receiver.
