The triangular sanding pad is made with a hard metal top, foam inner and velcro-type sanding pad. All three parts of the sanding pad are the same size and shape. You can clearly see it in the product photo. When sanding in a corner, the sanding pad fits nicely into the corner. However, the hard metal piece fits right up to the adjacent board. Turn the sander on and the paper goes to work. At the same time the hard metal top is digging a deep groove in the adjacent board. When I say deep, I mean it can't be sanded down; it will require a hearty dose of wood filler. I don't know how to avoid this without placing a spacer on the adjacent board to protect it from the hard metal piece. That would defeat the purpose though, because the triangular point won't be able to fit into the corner.I bought this thing because it was cheap, I like power tools, and I knew it would come in handy for certain projects around the house. Case in point: I had to replace an ancient electrical outlet mounted in a hardwood floor without a box, and the hole had to be enlarged to accept my new box. As an added challenge, the outlet hole was partially over a joist. Challenge accepted! I used the Genesis tool to cut the flooring and subfloor, then brought it to the basement and made three plunge cuts into the side of the joist. A few hits from above with a chisel and the joist was perfectly notched for the outlet box. I can't think of another tool that could cut such a clean notch in such an awkward location. The tool is extremely simple to use, with no adjustments other than the blade position. It's easy to handle and cuts pretty fast. The only real downside for me is the noise level. Hearing protection is an absolute must when using this tool. A dust mask is also a good idea if you plan to be cutting for more than a minute or two, because an oscillating blade creates finer dust than a reciprocating blade. I like to think of the blade edge as a really small strip of sandpaper -- not particularly sharp or aggressive, but moving at very high speed.
