Bought one of these for a floor replacement project that called for removing old glue from underlayment and cutting door trim to accept a new oak floor. It works very well in both applications. Further, you can buy blades at Harbor Freight pretty inexpensively. In fact, it looks like Harbor Freight sells this unit and a variable speed version under the Chicago Tool brand, but with only a 90 day warranty. The Amazon version's warranty is far better and single speed is fine. The unit has plenty of power and does not get hot in heavy use. It has a strong fan which actually cools not only the motor, but also you, in use. Nice breeze. Some claim it is loud, but I think not. It is not whisper quiet, but it is not very loud, either. Showed this to a fellow who does a lot of remodeling work commercially and he immediately liked it and intends to buy one. Yeah a Fein is probably better, but not 5-10X better. You are better off spending the price difference on a spare tool (just in case) and lots of blades. I've had this tool now for about 2 months and have used it for many jobs. I have cut many different materials with it and have had no problems, either with the blades or the tool. I did find that if you allow your hand to ride forward on the tool and your fingers cover the vents, it will heat up. Well, so would any tool deprived of cooling air. Because this tool doesn't feature variable speed I bought an after market rheostat foot pedal for $34 from MicroMark and modified the foot switch with an adjusting bolt to defeat the deadman feature thereby creating a variable speed control. One thing that I didn't expect was this tool's ability to carve wood like a knife. I was using the semicircle flush cut blade and found that I could accurately rough in relatively complex contours. This is a very robust tool and the rubber grip is very comfortable. Based on the medical indusry's cast saw, this is not a new design, but it has added new dimensions to a growing segment of the power tool market at a most reasonable price. This tool is perfect in every way; it is build on a quality foundation, performs it's duty far beyond my imagination, and makes me giddy to have such a nice tool for a change. I saw this, and said to myself: "There's no possible way this could actually work", but it was on sale and the reviews were optimistic, so I gave it a try. I'm so glad I did. The main reason I bought it was to cut a notch into a door frame to set floor tile, and the hand saw had only gotten nearly 20% through on the first side in just under an hour before the blisters set in. I received this tool today, had at the door frame with it, and nearly fainted as it cut through the wood frame on both sides in literally ten seconds, leaving a perfectly gauged notch that looks as if it were part of the design, and un-noticable after setting the tile in it. If you only buy yourself one toy this year, be sure to make sure this is the choice you make...you will not be sorry, I guarantee it.
