Not a perfect flashlight, but lots of lumens for under $20

In the world of $100 LED flashlights the Dorcy 41-4750 is a great value.

It isn't waterproof or made of machined aluminum and has no power settings, only an on / off switch. The light appears cheaply constructed, but looks in this case might be deceiving. I will certainly take Dorcy's word on the 8 foot drop test. The square design sits nicely on any flat surface and can be tail standed. You can't easily stick this light in your pocket, but it is very lightweight, feels good in your hand and is easy to carry.

The important part is it produces 180 lumens of bright light for 5 hours on 4 easy to replace AA batteries. I have not verified the run-time, but the 180 Lumen output rating seems very reasonable compared to other lights I own. The center beam isn't pretty, but it throws a long ways and the spill is decent. It certainly has a far more useful beam then the Nebo Redline I recently purchased and is brighter then the Fenix E21 ... another recent acquisition.

Not a perfect flashlight, but lots of lumens for under $20 bucks. The Dorcy 41-4750 180 Lumen High Flux LED Flashlight is a lightweight flashlight that easily goes camping with us.
It has a 12' halo around the outside of the tight beamed focus in the center. It shoots a very bright light in any direction you aim it. It makes it like daylight!

I have a huge backyard that borders up to an airfield and we get all kinds of nighttime visits from opossums to coyotes. So I needed a very bright flashlight.
The Dorcy 41-4750, hands down, is the perfect flashlight.

The item came with no instructions on how to open and install the included AA batteries in the flashlight. So after a few confusing seconds I decided to "untwist" the rear cap at the
base and it exposed the area to insert the 4 batteries. Install the batteries (with two batteries stacked on top of each other) with the (+) positive side up and the other two batteries with the (-) negative side up.
Inside the the open chamber at the top lip is the battery placement icons. The icons are very small and hard to see. Install batteries, two up and two down as per icon.

I have a ton of old flashlights that either don't work, flicker on and off or have artifacts in the light beam. The Dorcy was the perfect replacement for all those outdated flashlights.
