The L755-S5349 15.6-Inch LED Laptop Sale 2012

I purchased this computer on a *black friday* lightning deal for 399. When the computer first arrived, I was concerned about it's design build. When holding/using it, it feels cheaply constructed and very *plastic-y.* Also, never set anything on top of this notebook or apply pressure to the top of it when the screen is folded down. It isn't very sturdy and your screen will become damaged. Very different from my Sony Vaio that is built like a tank and can really take a beating. But in terms of display quality, this computer is second to none. Very vivid display with a high resolution. Nice! In terms of performance, that's where this computer shines. It performs tasks, such as web browsing and loading/installing programs, watching videos, with lightning speed. If you're looking for a media hub, this computer probably isn't the best choice because it doesn't handle tasks like gaming with a great deal of efficiency. However, if you're using this to view youtube, skype, or read email, this computer is fantastic. The HDMI port is also a great addition. It connects to my Samsung LCD flawlessly, and is a nice option to have because it allows me to watch certain movie files on the *big screen* rather than having to sit in front of my computer at a desk.

All in all, I have to recommend this computer. I would have given it 5 stars, but had a battery issue and had to throw a tantrum on the phone with toshiba customer support in order to get them to send me a new battery. But aside from toshiba's HORRID customer service, the computer is great. I mean, what do you really expect for less than $400??? You don't get much for that price, these days. Just heed my warnings about the construction quality. This isn't a computer built for the *on the go* lifestyle. But if you plan to use this only in your home, at a desk or sitting on the couch, then this is the computer you want! I have a Toshiba Satellite that's not but 7 months old. It has suddenly started producing a "cooling system" warning and shuts down after 5 or 10 mintues. If you search Google for "cooling system" and "Toshiba" you'll see ample evidence to suggest this is a residual problem with several models of Toshiba's laptops over the course of several years. The company just can't seem to fix it despite selling newer models every year. I called the company and its under warrenty, but I'm a Soldier deployed overseas and Toshiba will only ship via UPS, but UPS does not travel where I am located. I asked Toshiba to use the US Postal System, since the USPS also has a tracking system, but the Toshiba customer service representative hung up the phone (a long distance call at my expense) on me at that suggestion. In short, the company sold me a defective product and now I must go out of my way to ensure they fix it. Worse, that laptop, and the use of Skype is the only connection I have with my baby daughter. I'm out of luck for at least several weeks. Toshiba does not appear to stand behind it's products.
